  • A fine powder containing minimum 2 x spores and conidia of mycoparasitic fungi Trichoderma viride per gram, which when introduced along-with seeds or at root zone protect the seedlings from attack by soil borne pathogens and promote healthy growth in early stages of crop.
  • FUNGEND-V overshadows the pathogenic fungi, which are overpowered and prevented from infecting the plants. Before pathogens attempt infection via germinating seeds or roots they can be suppressed and controlled with this natural method.
Mode of action:
  • Growing roots are protected from attacking pathogenic organisms such as Rhizoctonia, Pythium, Fusarium and Sclerotium by the introduction of beneficial mycoparasitic competitors having aggressive nature.
  • Trichoderma viride in FUNGEND-V is parasitic to these plant pathogens.
  • Mycelia grow and coil around hyphae of host (pathogenic) fungi when seeds are treated with FUNGEND-V.
  • Penetration of host mycelia may or may not occur, but susceptible hyphae become vacuolated, collapse and finally disintegrate.
  • FUNGEND-V produces cellulase, glucanase and other enzymes which have power to dissolve the hyphae of invading mycelia of fungi, thus reducing their virulence and the susceptible plants are protected.
  • It is effective as a seed treatment with and without chemical fungicides.
    PGR action:
  • It colonizes roots, increases root mass and health, and consequently provides yield increases, which chemical fungicides applied at reasonable rates cannot do.
USES:

Following diseases can be controlled by use of FUNGEND-V

  1. Gram /Chick pea:
    1. Collar rot of gram caused by Sclerotium rolfsii,
    2. dry rot caused by Macrophomina phaseoli.,
    3. root rot caused by Pellicularia filamentosa,
    4. stem rot caused by Sclerotonia scleretiorum

can be effectively controlled by seed treatment @ 4 gms of FUNGEND-V per kg seed.

  1. Pepper :
    1. Root rot caused by Phytophthora

can be controlled by soil drench of FUNGEND-V @ 0.5 % solution.

  1. Groundnut /Peanuts:
    1. Collar rot caused by Pellicularia rolfsii,
    2. Root rot caused by Pellicularia filamentosa,
    3. Dry root rot caused by Macrophomina phaseoli

can be controlled by treatment of seeds with 4 grams per kg of nuts.

  1. Wheat :
    1. Loose smut caused by Ustilago segetum tritici is a common disease which can be controlled by applying 3 gms of FUNGEND-V per kg of seeds.
    2. Even karnal bunt disease teliophores are reduced by treatment with FUNGEND-V.
  2.  Potato :
    1. Charcoal rot caused by Macrophomina phaseoli
    2. black surf caused by Rhizoctonia solani

can be controlled by dipping potato tubers in 0.5 % solution of FUNGEND-V. i.e. 50 grams of FUNGEND-V per 100 litres of water.

  1. Ginger and turmeric:
    1. Soft rot caused by Pythium aphanidermatum
    2. Thread blight caused by Pellicularia filamentosa

is dramatically reduced by dipping sets in 0.5 % FUNGEND-V supension.

  1. Peas, Beans:
    1. Seedling blight caused by Pythium,
    2. Dry rot caused by Macrophomina phaseoli

can be controlled by treating the seeds with 4 grams of FUNGEND-V per kg of seeds.

  1. Tomato:
    1. Damping off, foot rot caused by Pythium sp.,
    2. Phytophthora sp and
    3. Pellicularia filamentosa in nursery

can be reduced by soil drenching with 0.5 % solution of FUNGEND-V in seed bed.

  1. Lady’s finger, onion and other vegetables:
    1. Damping off caused by Pythium and Phytophthora sp.

can be reduced by drenching the seed beds with 0.5 % solution of FUNGEND-V.

  1. Grapes:
Botrytis can be reduced by spray of FUNGEND-V during late sprays alongwith chemicals for synergistic action.
Compatibility:

FUNGEND-V can be applied to seeds treated with metalaxyl or thiram but not mercurials. It can be mixed with chemical fungicides as tank mix.
Precautions:
Store in a cool place away from sunlight.
